    Giants. I'm pleased the Dark Lord saw fit to give me this task, but I'm currently at a loss as to how to negotiate with them. I will have to put some thought into it so I don't get stomped before I have a chance to plead his case. Marion would never forgive me, among other things.

    I will be attending the Dark Lord's task this weekend, so do not look for me. Marion will not be accompanying me on my 'holiday in the country.' I can't see her doing well with the giants, can you? Regardless, should I be unable to negotiate without being stepped upon, I would take it kindly if someone would break the news to her.



Charley, Leo, Rabastan, Rodolphus, Amycus
    I very much doubt it will happen, but should I displease the giants or otherwise fall in His service, I have a favor to ask. Should, after an appropriate period of mourning, Marion try to date or remarry a man named Dedalus Diggle or - Merlin forbid - Roland, please kill him. I've no wish for Marion to suffer the indignity of marrying such and she, at times, can be rather blind. And no, Amycus, you can't marry her either.

    I can't decide if the Order of the Phoenix is extremely brave or extremely stupid. It's quite possible it's both. They try to counter us at every turn and then seek to enflame the Dark Lord with this middling little manifesto of theirs. What will the Dark Lord's reaction be, I wonder?

    Have we all read the Prophet this morning? I find the manifesto rather ridiculous. For all they proclaim to dislike us, they are certainly taking their cue from our Lord, aren't they, in publishing a manifesto.

    I'm surprised there hasn't been more reaction - either to it or to the editorial that followed. It should be telling who denounces Skeeter's piece and who supports it. Perhaps we'll get lucky and someone will out him or herself.

    No one's said anything about Jugson since his arrest. Or at least not much. He wasn't an idiot. He knew he didn't have to admit anything. And yet he did. Why wasn't he thinking? Why did he have to be so bloody reckless? Is something going on that I don't know? But the Dark Lord seemed quite put out about Jugson's arrest. Bloody hell, what was Virgil thinking?

    McKinnon continues to be an obnoxious arse. Is anyone planning anything to be done about him? I would have hoped the years would have improved him. Clearly, that was too much to ask.

    Marion knows. She didn't take it badly She hasn't left me Apparently, she suspected and she confronted me yesterday morning. Of course, her timing left something to be desired as I was in the shower, but you all know how women are. She expressed worry over my well-being, as I would expect and for that reason I had not told her. She is a mite put out that I did not tell her sooner.

    I admit to being perplexed and unsure of what to say now. When McTavish's arrest gets out Thoughts?

    My wife now knows of my allegiances. She poses no threat to us, however, and she has indicated that she supports me in all that I do. I did not think it necessary to trouble the Dark Lord with such trivial matters, but I thought it wise to tell you both, just in case I am injured in the future. I believe she would like to be informed of such.

    I love You're brilliant, you realize.

    I have informed certain parties that in the event of my injury or death that you be contacted. I trust this is what you would want?

    Good show to whomever got to the Minister today. Rumors are already flying around the Ministry about the way he tore into the DMLE today.

    Leo - is the DMLE as arsed as I imagine they would be?

    Someone in the lift just now said something about the Minister going a bit mad today in the DMLE. I heard a rumor in the canteen, but I passed it off. Did anyone hear anything?

I've heard the most distressing rumors about the Minister. I do hope they're not true. I wouldn't want my Minister to behave like that.

    I'm unsurprised that this bill didn't pass. Nor do I think it was a particularly good idea. Their blood taint would still be with us, after all, even their opinions would be changed. And even that is debatable. Too many would want to find out where they came from. It would have caused problems.

    It seems the Wizengamot is getting full of themselves. Not you, of course, Dominic, but the others.

    But more than that, I find Flint's words concerning. A Mudblood protection bill? That'd be a travesty of the highest order.

It seems Minister Flint's true colors are beginning to show. I wondered how long it would take before he had a genuine opinion.

    Shit. Yesterday was Marion's birthday. Shit. No wonder she was cross with me when I finally got home. Buggering hell, why didn't she say anything?

    I was thinking that I could bring home a curry for dinner tonight. Or, if you'd rather, I could bring Chinese or fish and chips. Alternatively, we could go out someplace. Do you have a preference?

    I forgot Marion's birthday. How do I get myself out of the hole I've unintentionally dug?

    Ladies, I know it comes as a shock, but I seem to have put my foot in it in regard to my dear wife. How would you suggest that I make it up to her if I, say, forgot that her birthday was yesterday got the day of her birthday incorrect? I've already offered to bring home dinner or take her out, but I haven't yet acknowledged my error. Any and all advice would be much appreciated.

    Are any of you chaps up for a pint at the Three Broomsticks tonight? I realize it's a bit late notice, but I've found myself at loose ends for the evening as my darling wife has other plans. Of course, if you're unable, I understand.

    Alternatively, would any of you be happening by the Leaky? I have a few questions that I would like answered. I would go myself, but I do not want to risk upsetting Marion overly much. It seems she's out with a 'friend.' Male or female is all I need to know.


I hope that the increased number of people in the Ministry these past few days will abruptly decline now that the trial is nearly over. I have found it rather irksome to have to take my meals with reporters and observers gossiping in the cafeteria. There are some details that I'd really not like to overhear over my roast beef sandwich. Not only is it bad manners to those who are trying to eat, but it's in extremely poor taste, as you never know who might be at the next table.

    Is anyone going to try to attend the trial? I find myself curious, I must admit.



We made the mistake of having the wireless on at work. While Savage's supporters are numerous, I rather think they're delusional. If they found him as they said they did - in a mask and robes over the bodies of the Gamps - I don't see how it could work out well for him. However, I do believe in innocence until proven guilty so I will await the decision of the Wizengamot.

Ministry of Magic

    I heard a bit of disturbing rumor that the Minister's "cutting redundancies." It seems that the Werewolf staff will be consolidated, among others, possible Misuse of Muggle Artefacts, too. I wonder where else he'll cut?

    So it seems that my Magical Maintenance staff member was not one of those who got sent to the Centaur Liaison Office today, which is thankful as he brought me a bit of information he picked up nosying around the WCU today. I knew the man was closeted up with the Aurors too much lately.

    The Auror Office has finished warding those forests young Avery told us about - Wyre, Dallington, Newborough and the Forbidden. As he informed us, the WCU and Aurors will be alerted if Greyback appears. They will then fall upon him like the heroics idiots they are and attempt to arrest him. The numbers of those they will bring aren't specific, though I would guess at less than a dozen, but more than half. They do not, from what I gather, suspect he's one of ours. That is to their detriment and shows their lack of foresight. They do, however, wonder at the existence of his pack. I trust this is due to his more recent comments about adding to such with that young Gumboil boy.

    I do trust that you'll take care, Greyback. It would be awful for you to be caught. And perhaps something can be done about this? It would make a lovely ambush, would it not?



I must admit that I will be relieved when this week is over. If it's not one thing, it's another. I, for one, am looking forward to the weekend.

It seems that my dear wife and I had a bit of miscommunication. When she said she was going to buy Christmas presents for the family, she neglected to say that she was not buying for my family. Suffice it to say, I have some last minute shopping to do because of the dozy cow it.

While the men in the family are easy enough to buy for, I find myself at loose ends for the ladies.

I'll likely buy a book for my mother, but my sister, Claudia, and my sister-in-law, Faith, are stumping me. Suggestions would be heartily appreciated.

    I have been successful. Phineus Maxwell of Magical Maintenance bent easily enough to my will and fetched me a paper from the Experimental Charms Committee, as that was next on his duty roster. (Consequently, I have the name of the idiot whose idea it was to make those Alertonators "warm" when there was a message.) Regardless, I am confident that should we need it, Maxwell can be of use to us and discreetly, at that.

Warded to Benedict Avery and Augustus Rookwood

    I will take Phineus Maxwell in Magical Maintenance. As he can go anywhere within the building and has access to most offices, including parts of the DMLE, I think he may be of some use to our Lord.

    I will let you know of my success within the week. I do believe I'll ask for something from Auror Moody's desk as proof.

    I find the whinging of the Mudbloods and their supporters irritating. Why do they insist on complaining about Purist Week? Do they honestly think it will do any good?



Ministry of Magic Employees

    Can anyone tell me why I nearly burned the skin off my hand today when I was attempting to use that ruddy Alertonator? I think someone ought to inform the Committee for Experimental Charms that scalding the employees isn't part of the benefit package. Was it just mine or are others likewise afflicted?



I find myself enjoying my freedom at loose ends as my wife is at her sister's this weekend. I do believe they'll be doing something in preparation for the Ball next week. I haven't a clue why they're doing something a full week in advance, but I thought it best not to argue this once. I have never tried to understand the mind of a woman. Though I am well-versed in understanding dangerous creatures, I do think it would be a lost cause in this case.
